Demanding and Calling for Urgent Action of the Aquino Administration in Solving the Philippine-Taiwan Dispute and Protecting the Rights and Welfare of Filipino Migrant Workers in Taiwan

This is in relation to the current face-off of the Philippine and Taiwanese Government which have put the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan at risk. The alleged intentional shooting of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to a Taiwanese fishing boat which was an act of ‘self-defense and were only performing their duty of stopping illegal fishing and poaching inside the Philippine territory’ after claiming that the said boat ‘had tried to ram its vessel near Batanes’ actually killed a 65-year old Taiwanese fisherman. This then flared up the outrage of the Taiwanese not only towards the Philippine government but to the Filipino people. As a way of its dissatisfaction to the response from the Philippine government on the matter, it banned the recruitment of Filipino workers, banned its citizens in travelling to the country, and even its own citizens refused selling goods to Filipinos in Taiwan. If this is not resolved, 95,000 documented OFWs in Taiwan will be affected.

Thus, we are calling for both parties to immediately resolve this dispute in any peaceful and diplomatic means.

We call for the Philippine Government to immediately craft solutions addressing the dispute while executing measures that would protect and uphold the welfare of OFWs in Taiwan.

We call for the Taiwanese government to be open for diplomatic negotiations and discussions with the Philippine government on how to resolve this issue.

We call for all the workers in Taiwan to remove divisions created by culture and nationality and to be united instead for the workers’ welfare and rights.

As we always demand and call, Philippine government should strengthen self-sustaining local economy that would provide decent employment for Filipinos.

Sino at Ano ang AMIN o Anak Mindanao?

Ito ay ang pagkakaisa ng tatlong mamamayan sa Mindanao (Moro, Lumad ug Migrante Settler) mula sa Kababaehan, Kabataan, Manggagawa, Magsasaka, Mangingisda, LGBT, OFW, Kooperatiba, Maralitang-Lunsod at Nayon, Drayber, Propesyunal at iba pang sector. Itinatag ito noong taong 1997, ayon sa Party List System Election Law o Republic Act 7941.

Naglalayon itong bigyang boses sa Kongreso (Mababang Kapulungan) ang mga taga-Mindanao na maliliit at naisantabing mga sector at uri na walang diskriminasyon sa pinanggagalingang tatlong mamamayan sa Mindanao. Sa pamamagitan ng Party List Eleciton, isusulong ng Anak Mindanao (AMIN) ang mga panukala at batas na paborable una sa lahat para sa mamamayang nirerepresentahan nito.

Sa paglahok ng AMIN sa eleksyon mula 1998, nagtagumpay ito at nanalo taong 2001, 2004, 2007 hanggang dalawang representante at naging possible ito dahil sa malaking ambag at sikap ng malawak na suporta ng mga mamamayan at mga kasapi nito.

Nitong halalang 2013, ating seguraduhing iboto sa ating mga Balota, numero 56 ang Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party List ng mga mamamayan at para sa mga mamamayan at hindi sa iilan at mga pamilya lamang.

PLATAPORMA AT AGENDA:

1. Sustenableng Lokal na Ekonomiyasa pamamagitan ng Pagbibigay tuon sa Pagsasaka at Sustenableng Agrikultura oFood Sovereignty;

2. Nasyunalisasyon sa mga Pangunahing Industriya at mga Serbisyong Sosyal at Pagtataas ng Subsidyo nito, Pagrepaso sa Oil Deregulation Law, Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) at ang Pagtutol sa Pagsasapribado (Privatization);

3. Pagsulong ng Panukalang Komprehensibong tutugon sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers, returnees at mga pamilya nito at ang Pag-review sa mga Kasunduan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at ibang bansa sa usaping OFW;

4. Pagsulong ng Panukala Laban sa walang humpay na Pagmimina,Pagtotroso at Pagsira sa Kalikasan (Alternatibong Batas sa Kasalukuyang Batas sa Pagmimina sa Pilipinas);

5. Reporma sa Party List System Election Law - pagsulong ng review at rekomendasyon sa batas na magsasakapangyarihan sa mga Party List na tanggalin (recall) ang representante nito sa Kongreso at ang pag-bawal sa Dinastiya sa Party List at iba pa na wala sa batas na ito;

6. Pagsulong ng Batas Laban sa Kontraktwalisasyon na eskima sa paggawa at ang pagsulong ng makatarungang sahod at mga benepisyo;

7. Pagsulong ng Batas Laban sa Dinastiya sa Politika;

8. Palakasin ang Anti-Discrimination Law para sa mga Mamamayan at mga sector;

9. Isulong ang Magna Carta para sa mga Mahihirap at Kabataan;

10. Isulong ang Komprehensibong Batas ng Balangkas sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran sa Mindanao na walang pagsasantabi sa anumang Mamamayan o Paniniwala;

11. Ireview ang mga International at Local na mga Utang ng Bansa upang malaman ang nararapat lang na bayaran at ang Pagrepaso sa Automatic Appropriation Act;

12. Imbestigasyon sa mga Pagyurak sa Karapatang Pantao laban sa mga Pilipno at taga-Mindanao sa loob at labas ng Bansa at Pagsulong ng akmang parusa sa mga mapatunayang nagkasala;

13. At iba pang maka-tao, makatarungan at maka-kalikasang programa at polisiya kasama na ang pagpapatupad nito.
